Sea Feather Wind Vanes has been in
production for the last ten years, With hundreds of hours and
thousands of miles service, including Atlantic & Pacific crossings.
All the
experienced gained has been used to build and improve the designs to
ensure their continued reliability and performance, culminating in
the introduction of the “Sea Feather Mk4” in August 2009. This
design incorporates all the best features from previous designs in
one very adaptable self-steering unit.
This design incorporates the
following features:-
Fabricated precision
Aluminium construction, no castings, (damaged parts can easily
replaced), anodised on completion to a marine spec.
All shafts,
All internal control mechanism,
Servo Pendulum blade mechanism etc, are machined from stainless
steel.
All bearings, Worm &
Wormwheel course control gear, are machined from “Delrin”.
Operating features include:-
Remote course control lines,
with infinite adjustment, can be operated from any where on your
boat.
“Quick release” Servo Blade
setting & un-setting mechanism.
Main Steering gear unit can
be removed in minutes from the stern of your boat, (just leaving the
mounting bracket in place).
Light weight, approx 30lb
average per unit.
A trail sail is also
available during the season from Dartmouth in Devon.
